About the Vice Deanship
It is one of CFY entities that report directly to the Dean. It implements the CFY policy in providing quality education via conducive environment and efficient partnerships that help students develop personal and academic skills for a successful university life while observing the application of KSU rules and regulations.
Objectives
- Promoting creativity and innovation and enhancing students’ capabilities;
- Developing self and academic skills required for university life;
- Providing an environment conducive to knowledge.

- Implementing the CFY plan as to the Vice Deanship at the female campus;
- Raising students’ awareness about their rights and responsibilities;
- Taking part in developing a process to discover gifted and creative students;

- Taking part in preserving the cultural, academic, and administrative components in line with the Deanship environment;

About the Vice Deanship
It is one of CFY supporting entities that reports directly to the Dean. It aims to build and follow up academic partnerships and investments with local and international parties within the framework of CFY vision, mission, and objectives.
Objectives
- Building excellent partnerships that serve the CFY strategic objectives;
- Building investment partnerships that meet the CFY requirements;
- Promoting the culture of academic partnerships between students and CFY faculty members;
- Supporting the exchange of visits paid by CFY students and faculty members to external institutions;

The English Language Skills Department is pleased to heartily welcome you to its program. The ELSD offers the Intensive English Language Program (IEP) delivered by excellent teachers and administrators who work hard to help you in every possible way. We hope that you make the best of this opportunity by cooperating with your teachers and abiding by the class rules.
Since the inception of the Common First Year, the ELSD has made, by means of the Intensive English Language Program, great achievements manifested in the students who graduated from the CFY and joined their respective colleges. The Department works around the clock to develop its study plans to keep abreast of the ongoing international developments in the field of learning and teaching English. The Department seeks to capitalize on the experience of the leading international institutions in teaching English such as Cambridge and Oxford Universities. The Department also aspires to achieve high quality standards in terms of programs offered, teachers recruited, learning technologies employed, and functions organized where students use their language skills.

A message from the Vice Dean
Based on KSU’s keenness on creating an environment conducive to learning and intellectual creativity, the KSU Rector issued a decree to establish the CFY Vice Deanship for Student Affairs in the Common First Year in the academic year 1435-1436 H. with a view to providing students with services such as academic advising and counseling, and student activities. The Vice Deanship is interested to develop these services to enhance students’ skills, which contributes to the successful completion of their education.

Out of this conviction, we set out to offer the best educational practices in the courses offered by the Self-Development Skills Department. At present, there are constant changes and developments and we have to keep up with them. We always aspire to excellence, to move towards an effective learning environment through the modern technological applications, and to have a house of expertise that reflects the competence of the faculty members and the like in order to achieve the best results.
In view of the Kingdom’s vision 2030, the Department of Self-Development Skills seeks to achieve the highest standards of excellence in terms of student skills development through investment in education, continuous training that provides our children with the skills they need in their university and future lives. The Department provides quality education in a learning environment that is stimulating for learning and creativity.
This education is based on the Department's courses: University Skills, Entrepreneurship, Computer, Health and Health Education.
These courses simulate the students’ needs inside and outside the university environment by identifying higher level thinking patterns and practising scientific research by using all the possible technological capabilities. Moreover, the courses contribute to developing the students’ computer skills and modern technology concepts, and their learning about healthy behaviors and skills of successful communication with oneself, others and task forces, and the community at large. A message from the Vice Dean
Praise be to the Lord of the both worlds, peace and blessings be upon the most honorable of all prophets and messengers, our master Mohammed, and all His household and companions.
As we actively endeavor to improve the quality of the educational process-learning outcome, development and quality concepts have come to be among the main pillars of education. Departing from this conviction, we work on promoting a culture of comprehensive quality and adherence to its standards in both the educational and administrative processes in the Common First Year, in accordance with the vision and mission of King Saud University, which, in turn, reflects the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.
In view of the significant role played by technology in conducting business, the Vice Deanship has been working on on developing electronic systems contributing to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the educational and administrative processes. This will be achieved by keeping up with and applying the state-of-the-art methods and techniques in these technological areas. Moreover, the Vice Deanship is working on developing an empowered cadre by providing support and training to the CFY Deanship affiliates.

About the Vice Deanship
It is one of the supporting entities at the Common First Year, under the direct supervision of the Dean, and is directly concerned with overseeing and monitoring all development and quality activities, training and information technology. It is also responsible for conducting evaluative and research studies on the CFY Deanship and proposing development programs in the academic and administrative fields.
Objectives
- Improving the quality of academic and administrational processes and practices
- Improving the efficiency of the academic and administrative deanship affiliates
- Realizing the optimal use of technology
Duties
- Implementing the plans of the Deanship in relation to the Vice Deanship for Development & Quality Assurance
- Preparing and implementing programs for disseminating the culture of quality among the deanship affiliates by holding and organizing seminars, lectures and workshops as well as preparing publications, etc.
- Supervising and overseeing the progress of the strategic plan of the deanship
- Supervising and overseeing the quality management system and providing the necessary support for it
- Providing the facilities necessary for all task forces working on applying quality in the Deanship
- Continuously collecting data and information on the development and quality activities in the Deanship
- Preparing periodic reports on the level of performance, and the stakeholders’ satisfaction with the activities and services provided by the deanship
- Following up on the procedures of Excellence Awards in the Deanship
- Supervising and monitoring programs to improve the Deanship the efficiency of the deanship affiliates academically and administratively
- Offering technical consultations to all units of the Deanship (vice deanships, administrations, departments and units)
- Supervising and following up on the support services provided to the deanship affiliates by the Vice Deanship's units
- Performing other duties assigned to the Deanship with regard to development, quality, training, and information technology and its application within the deanship
