Professional Development and Academic Coordination Committee

Who we are

The Professional Development and Academic Coordination Committee works to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the English Language Skills Department through organizing professional development programs, monitoring teaching performance, addressing student complaints related to teaching, and providing training workshops throughout the academic year.

Objectives of the committee

  • Evaluating the quality of teaching and learning in classrooms.
  • Providing distinctive and effective professional development opportunities for teachers in the English Language Skills Department to enhance their knowledge and equip them with the recent language pedagogical skills.

Major responsibilities of the committee

  • Organizing training sessions for teachers during the orientation week.
  • Planning and implementing a mentoring program for newly-appointed teachers.
  • Monitoring the performance of teachers throughout the year through announced and unannounced observational visits to ensure that the quality of teaching and learning adheres to standards, while providing feedback on professional development.
  • Conducting verification and follow-up on student complaints and feedback regarding teachers’ performance referred to the committee, and offering necessary professional development-oriented action plans.
  • Organizing and implementing various professional development workshops throughout the academic year.
